To put it simply – Mary Mount

This lady has changed my life forever – in a really exciting, yet contented way. Being around her for the last year has allowed me to feel alive again. I mean really alive. Being in the moment so much of the time. Sharing so many thoughts, feelings, opinions, without fear of reprisal or condemnation. Without her, 2014 would have been completely different.

The first day in Durham – met Mary for a tour.

Silver moon drive to Hyco Lake, Valentines Day at the RV, Moving in day with RV in March, Trip to mountains, Lyme Disease, T-trials, Trip to Andersonville, GA, Trip to Canada and East Coast, Best summer ever at Hyco Lake, Trip to Washington, DC, Meeting Mary’s friends, admiring Mary in all she does, Birthday at beach, Mary’s birthday at Biltmore House, all the pictures, the mushroom, all the birds, feeding the animals and adventures with the squirrels, the passing of Harley, my sister’s stroke, all the gardening, kayaking on Hyco for first time, exploring northern NC including Virginia, VIR adventures, repairing Margret’s house, meeting Worth, deciding to let go of CML and to build Rapidgo larger, trip to Canada to get license renewed with Dan, developing CML and all the techie stuff I had to do, all the workouts at the club, learning my way around Roxboro, obtaining and growing seeds into flowering plants, getting Vet health care, filing US income tax for prior years.

Those were the best days of my life.

 

 

 

I learned where and how to file a complaint regarding the poor, and often dangerous, care, my sister, Molly, has been receiving at a Meridian facility in Raleigh, called The Covington House. I have learned the criteria for a complaint, which my sister’s care qualified easily, the response times and procedures, how to obtain more information, and, as always, persistence pays off when it comes to bureaucracy.

One of the first things I have done, once I had been giving Power of Attorney for my sister’s affairs, was to get as much of her bill payment online as quickly as possible. I also have scanned all her bills and sent to her email. I have created a spreadsheet for all her income and debts and can monitor her bank accounts and credit cards.

I have located a government service that looks at what the individual has in terms of income and insurance, etc; and then recommends what coverage would be best suited. They also list all nursing homes and ratings by government monitoring agencies every three months.

Things happen for reasons that we may never know, nor understand. On February 4, 2014, my sister, Molly, had a stroke. It left her paralyzed on her left side and unable to care for herself. Having been a fairly active, self-motivated, business owner, she kept an amazingly positive attitude for quite some time in the beginning. Losing most of one’s abilities will wear anyone down from time to time. Although there was some loss of cognitive ability, she has maintained a firm grasp on the here and now.

It took some time for recovery to take effect – nearly twelve months for sure. Her children, however, were less than prepared for their mother being stripped away so suddenly from them as the matriarch of the family. The events that have taken place since that fateful night will take some time to come out. Suffice it to say that I have learned many things about family units and the lessons that are passed down from one generation to the next.

Thankfully, I was raised believing that the family works together and protects each other from outside threats. I think that was further ingrained into me by the military. Esprit de corps and all that.

My sister called it “Circling the wagons”. When I discovered that my sister was not receiving the proper care that she deserved, I found it necessary to get involved to protect her rights and property,

This is the first post entry regarding what I have learned, expect to learn, and how I can benefit my future by what I am learning about the aging process and how seniors are being treated in our present society.

Sieze the Moment/Now

What if we are nothing but an experiment by our creators. What if one of us begins to discover it through flashbacks and flash throughs to the real truth of our existence, We are all being controlled through the electronic gadgets, surroundings, cameras, internet, etc? the idea is that we are being controlled and manipulated for their amusement and discovery of science in the universe.\r\n\r\nAre they any more benevolent than an experimenter in a lab? And they are all laughing!

Jack was preparing to start his first day of school the next week. I am so proud of him for sticking to his wants and needs. That boy is going to make a difference in this world.\r\n\r\n

As you know, I am a dreamer and idea guy. Some time ago I came up with an idea that I felt would be a game changer for many people around the world.

Today I hired a virtual assistant, something I have wanted to do for many years. The first thing she is going to do is market research on Commemoratemylife.me, (CML). This is very exciting to see other people interested in this incredible project.  I have also talked to, and will be hiring, a website developer that will charge by the hour and the page to get things started. THIS IS IT!
